Corporations, foundations, government agencies, and other organizations provide a vital link between the academic
world and the business world. By awarding grants to Baker, organizations build important relationships with one of
the region's most historically significant institutions of higher education. They also nurture some of our area's
best and brightest young minds.
Grants from corporations and foundations have provided generous support for programs and initiatives have an impact on all aspects
of Baker life: students, faculty, staff and administrators alike. Examples from this academic year are:
- The Hall Family Foundation provided Baker with funding to develop and implement new and unique general education program
components.
- The J. E. Dunn Construction Company pledged financial support for the state-of-the-art renovation and addition to Mulvane
Hall, Baker's historic science-learning facility.
- Faculty received funds from the National Science Foundation to conduct ground-breaking research that will give Baker
students hands-on experience studying microscopic organisms.
- An initiative for individual student learning has been created thanks to a newly endowed scholarship fund from the
Goppert Foundation.
- International financial giant KPMG, LLP has supported Baker in several ways: making internships available to
current students; providing matching gifts that augment employee contributions; and funding scholarship opportunities on campus.
In each of these cases, as well as others, grant programs offer tremendous opportunities for partnering with Baker to build area
human resources in real and lasting ways. Tangible results from investment in students and faculty at Baker ultimately benefit
the entire region.
Another option for partnering with Baker is to participate in our corporate matching gift program. Employers matching contributions
given by employees is rewarding for both parties: employees have a sense of satisfaction in that their gift is recognized and
appreciated, and the employer raises general awareness of the company's commitment to philanthropy. Matching gifts is a
fundamental source of revenue for Baker.
