Bryan Kindle led the way for Baker in the opener going 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBI’s. Justin Lane also finished with three RBI’s thanks to a three-run homer in the fourth inning to give Baker a 10-0 lead.
Chris Cummins (3-1) pitched a complete game while giving up seven hits and four earned runs. He also recorded 12 strikeouts in the contest.
Baker jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in game two, but Central Methodist managed to claw its way back into the game thanks to one run in the first inning and three in the sixth.
After a leadoff single in the sixth by CMU’s Dustin Ray, Baker turned a double play on a grounder by Brennen Wood. It wasn’t enough. After an error by the Wildcats on the following play, CMU strung together two more hits along with a walk and a hit batter to take a 5-4 lead heading into the top of the seventh, where Baker couldn’t rally to tie the game.
Graceland (9-12, 1-1 HAAC) is coming off a split with Peru State College in their HAAC opener on Mar. 13.
