Robert Shadrach and Jarid Price squared off in the 184 pound wrestlebacks with seventh and eighth place finishes on the line. Shadrach defeated Price with a 2-1 decision. Both garnered All-American status by finishing in the top eight.
After an upset in the 149 pound opening round, Jarell Price managed to battle back in his respective wrestlebacks, finishing fifth overall. Price knocked off Shay Shive of Missouri Valley College with a 5-3 decision.
“I was so proud of our team’s effort throughout the season,” said head Baker wrestling coach Jimmy May. “We really wrestled our best when it mattered the most at the national championships.”
Baker’s 11th place finish was its best in the short three-year history of the program. The Wildcats four NAIA All-Americans also ranks at the top of the program charts, not to mention the fact the ‘Cats were also crowned the top wrestling program in the state of Kansas with a Kansas Cup crown.
