Steinlage and Anderson grab all-HAAC honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo – Juniors Ben Steinlage (Corning, Kan.) and Corey Anderson (Mansfield, Texas) were named to the 2012 Men’s Basketball All-Heart of America Athletic Conference team as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Steinlage was named to the second team. He leads Baker in scoring with 11.9 points per game and ranks first on the team in shooting percentage at 64 percent. Anderson, who received honorable mention, averages 10.4 points per game. Anderson’s 3-point field-goal percentage of 40 percent ranks second on the team.

Baker returns to action at 7 p.m., Feb. 29, when the third-seeded Wildcats face sixth-seeded Benedictine College at the HAAC postseason tournament in the George F. Collins Center.

Atanmo and Petty highlight Baker all-HAAC selections

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Gloria Atanmo (Phoenix, Ariz.) and freshman Shelbi Petty (DeSoto, Kan.) were named to the 2012 Women’s Basketball All-Heart of America Athletic Conference team, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Atanmo, a third-team selection, led the Wildcats with nine double-doubles and ranked second on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game. She led Baker with 8.6 rebounds per game.

Petty, an honorable mention selection, finished the season as Baker’s third-leading scorer with 10.3 points per game and led the Wildcats from three-point range, shooting 46 percent.
