No. 18 Baker set to host No. 22 Bellevue (Neb.) in NAIA National Championship Opening Round

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women’s soccer team will begin its quest to defend its historic 2010 NAIA Fab Four run with a showdown against 22nd ranked Bellevue (Neb.) in the 2011 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round on Nov. 19.

Baker (13-3-1) received an automatic berth into the field of 31 after defeating Graceland University in the 2011 Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship Game. Bellevue (14-1-3) also received an automatic berth into the field after winning the 2011 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament.

The Wildcats enter play riding a five-game winning streak, with their last defeat coming against No. 16 Hastings College on Oct. 18. Bellevue enters play with a two-game win streak. Their only loss of the season came to unranked Vanguard on Sept. 17 by a score of 3-0.

Senior forward Alix Schiraldi (Lenexa, Kan.) continues to lead the Baker offensive attack with 13 goals on the season. She also leads the team with 33 points and 5.1 shots per contest. Junior Jordan Dolbin (La Mirada, Calif.) ranks second on the team with 17 points and leads the team with 2.6 shots on goal per contest.

Senior goalkeeper Maggie Dupes (Fallbrook, Calif.) is currently averaging 3.42 saves per contest with a goals against average of 1.30.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS
Senior defender Meredith Shuman (Bellevue, Neb.) leads the Bruins offense with eight goals and 20 points on the season. Freshman midfielder (Sheffield, England) ranks second on the team with 19 points and seven assists on the year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Stier is currently averaging 2.76 saves per game and ranks seventh nationally with a .441 goals against average.
