Junior Donny George put Baker on the board first with a strike in the 17th minute off a free kick from Odaine Sinclair.
Benedictine didn’t strike until the 61st minute when Kyle Greig received a ball from Troy McKerrell to even the game at 1-1.
Eight minutes later Troy McKerrell gave Benedictine the lead on a loose ball in front goalkeeper Matt Bickley.
The Wildcats didn’t flinch – Ben Coyle netted a goal in the 85th minute after he received a ball in the box from Nate Byarly, ultimately sending the game into overtime.
After playing scoreless in the first overtime, the Wildcats finally broke free in double OT as Cameron Zimmerman scored the game-winning goal in the 105th minute.
“It was a great night of character for the team,” said head coach Nate Houser. “Being ahead and falling behind, then finding the equalizer near the death of the game was a show of strength in mind and purpose. Getting the game-winner was even better! The team learned something about themselves and winning tonight.”
Baker (17-0-1) will host MidAmerica Nazarene (12-7-1) in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship Game at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Liston Stadium.
