Wildcats welcome Friends University for season opening hoops doubleheader

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men’s and women’s basketball teams return to action on Nov. 8 as they welcome Friends University to the George F. Collins Center for a 5:30/7:30 p.m. tip-off.

The Baker women (0-3) are coming off back-to-back losses in the Baker University Women’s Basketball Classic this past weekend. Junior Alisha Fanshier continues pace the team offensively with 15.3 points and 2.7 assists per game. Senior Rae Lynne Stewart is the leading rebounder with 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Friends women (1-2) are also coming off back-to-back losses against Southwestern Christian College (Okla.) and the University of Science and Arts (Okla.). Abby Fawcett leads the Falcons with 19.8 points per game.

The Baker University men’s basketball team is off to a 2-0 start for the second consecutive season. Baker started the season with commanding victories against Kansas Wesleyan University and Haskell Indian Nations University.

Junior Jordan Honore leads all Baker scorers with 15.5 points per game. Ben Steinlage (12.0 ppg.), Todd Ellis (11.5 ppg.), Brandon Moore (10.5 ppg.), and Jack Shortell (10 ppg.) are all currently averaging in double-figure scoring.

Ryan Douvier leads Baker on the glass with 7.5 rebounds per game. The Wildcats have outscored their opponents 182-122 in two games this season.

Friends University (1-2) is riding a two-game skid with back-to-back losses against Doane (Neb.) and Hastings (Neb.). Reggie Britton leads the Falcons with 20 points and 5.3 assists per game.
