Baker women fall to Northwestern Oklahoma State, 80-65

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women’s basketball team dropped its home opener on Friday afternoon in the first game of the 2011 Baker Women’s Basketball Wildcat Classic to Northwestern Oklahoma State, 80-65.

Baker (0-2) had two players score in double figures as junior Alisha Fanshier led the ‘Cats with 20 points while shooting 7-for-19 from the floor and 1-for-8 from beyond the arc. Freshman Shelbi Petty finished with 11 points.

Senior Rae Lynne Stewart and freshman Haleigh Tenpenny led the way on the glass each pulling down seven rebounds.

The Wildcats finished the game 22-for-72 (30 percent) from the floor and 7-for-33 (21 percent) from beyond the arc.

Northwestern Oklahoma State (1-0) had four players score in double figures as Audrey Richmond led all Ranger scorers with 19 points.

Baker returns to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. against No. 24 Rogers State University.
