SALINA Kan. – For the second consecutive season, the Baker men’s basketball team opened its season with a victory over Kansas Wesleyan University on Tuesday evening 102-60.

Ben Steinlage (pictured) led the Baker offensive attack with 19 points on an 8-for-8 shooting performance from the field. Three other players finished in double figures as Jordan Honore added 14, while Todd Ellis and Jack Shortell each added 12.

“Kansas Wesleyan was missing a couple players due to injury and I thought we did a good job wearing them down with our depth,” said head coach Brett Ballard. “It was a good team effort tonight, we’ve had some good practices, so it was good to see it carry over to our first game.”

Kevin Lyslaught led the Baker defense with seven rebounds and three steals.

Baker finished the game 40-for-65 from the field (61.5 percent) and 7-for-17 from beyond the arc.
