BU volleyball welcomes HAAC foe Central Methodist Tuesday

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University volleyball team will have its first home conference match of the season on Tuesday evening against Central Methodist University.

Baker (12-10, 2-0 HAAC) sits atop the conference standings after knocking off Missouri Valley College and Evangel University. The Eagles (3-9, 0-3 HAAC) are riding a four-match losing streak with their most recent defeat on Sept. 20 at MidAmerica Nazarene.

Savannah Smith (2.4 kills per set) and Jana Boss (8.1 assists per set) continue to pace the Wildcat offense. HAAC leaders Brooke Allen (5.6 digs per set) and Christina Delladio (1.2 blocks per set) anchor the defense.

Where they stand nationally
Brooke Allen is ranked fifth nationally with 458 total digs. Christina Delladio sits at No. 6 nationally with 93 total blocks. Jana Boss (656 total assists) and Sydney Pemberton (88 total blocks) are both ranked ninth in their respective statistical categories.

This and that
Head coach Kathy Allen has 298 career NAIA victories. Entering the 2011 season, Allen was ranked No. 25 on the all-time active wins chart with 286 victories while also ranking No. 14 with an all-time winning percentage of .637.

BU soccer teams host Oklahoma Wesleyan Tuesday evening

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker men’s and women’s soccer teams return to action on Tuesday evening as they host Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The 13th ranked Baker women (5-1) enter play riding a five-game winning streak, after dropping their season opener to Westminster (Utah) on Aug. 26.Alix Schiraldi

Alix Schiraldi continues to lead the offense with seven goals. She also leads the team with 4.67 shots per game and 2.5 shots on goal per game.

Rachel Theobald has been steady in goal, posting a goals against average of 1.31 with one shutout.

Oklahoma Wesleyan (6-3) is riding a three-game winning streak with its most recent victory coming against McPherson (Kan.) on Sept. 24. The Eagles are a member of the Midlands Collegiate Conference.

The undefeated and 10th ranked Baker men (8-0) will close out the action on Tuesday.

Odaine Sinclair enters play as the ‘Cats leading goal scorer with four tallies on the season. Tom Lowndes has added seven assists to rank fifth nationally.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Bickley has been stellar with five shutouts and a .43 goals against average. Bickley is ranked seventh nationally.

No. 25 Oklahoma Wesleyan is coming off back-to-back defeats against Oklahoma City University and McPherson (Kan.)
