Wildcats upset Evangel 3-2 on the road

BU vs Evangel

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Head coach Kathy Allen knew her team would learn some lessons from the stiff competition they faced earlier in the season – Tuesday evening it paid off.

Baker (7-7, 2-0 HAAC) defeated Evangel (11-2, 0-1 HAAC) giving them just their second overall loss of the season and first conference defeat.

Juniors Savannah Smith and Jana Boss led the way offensively recording 15 kills and 29 assists respectively. Defensively senior Christina Delladio added four blocks and senior Brooke Allen chipped in with 13 digs.

“It’s nice to get a close win in a hostile environment,” said head coach Kathy Allen. “We were motivated with lots of energy, but we still made some silly mistakes. The bottom line is we got the big win we needed.”

The Wildcats return to action Wednesday evening when they travel to NCAA DII Southwest Baptist University for a 3 p.m. first serve.
