Topeka natives Gustin and Robbs named NAIA All-Americans

2011 Outdoor Championships

MARION, Ind. – All-America honors were awarded to the top six individuals in each event and all four runners in the top six relay teams. These awards were given out this past weekend at the 60th Annual NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.

On the women’s side, junior Aubree Gustin (Topeka, Kan.) took home a sixth place finish in the women’s javelin throw with a mark of 41.50 meters. Freshman Stephanie Nelson (Kansas City, Mo.) finished in seventh place with a mark of 40.71 meters. Gustin, a dual sport athlete for the Wildcats was also the third leading scorer on the women’s basketball team with 9.8 points per game. 

Jason Robbs (Topeka, Kan.) was the lone All-American on the men’s side with a commanding third place finish in the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 59.49 meters. The medallist, Bruno Boccalotta of Lindenwood won the event with a final throw of 60.87 meters.

As a team, the Baker women finished 39th overall and the Baker men closed out the year 44th overall.
