Softball team grabs four All-HAAC honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Baker University softball team was rewarded after finishing with one of its finest regular seasons ever with four selections to the all-Heart of America Athletic Conference team, which was announced by the league office Monday.

Junior Brooke Allen (Topeka, Kan.), freshman Maggie Holmberg (Topeka, Kan.) and freshman Erin Greenwood (Topeka, Kan.) were all named to the first team. Greenwood was also named HAAC Freshman of the Year. Senior Katie Worley (Platte Woods, Mo.) was named to the second team.

Player Quick Hits

Brooke Allen
Outfielder Brooke Allen finished the year fourth in the HAAC with a .401 batting average and fifth in the HAAC with a .629 slugging percentage. Her fielding percentage of .992 tied for first on the team and 15th in the conference. Allen also set the school record for home runs in a season with eight.

Maggie HolmbergAll-HAAC
Freshman Maggie Holmberg led the Baker pitching staff with victories (13), games pitched (23), innings pitched (135.1), strikeouts (136) and ERA (1.81).

Erin Greenwood
Erin Greenwood was named HAAC Freshman of the Year. She finished with a 2.14 ERA and ranked second on the team with nine victories. She was second on the team with a .333 batting average and .481 slugging percentage.

Katie Worley
As a freshman, Katie Worley was part of a team that finished 2-18 in the HAAC. The team set the regular-season wins record (31) her senior year and advanced to the HAAC postseason in back-to-back seasons. As a catcher, she anchored a Baker pitching staff that finished third in the HAAC with a 2.21 ERA and provided a needed scoring punch at the plate, finishing tied for second on the team with five home runs and participating in 50 of 52 games.
