Wildcats fall in opening round of HAAC playoffs

HAAC Playoffs

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Baker may not have accomplished its end goal in the conference playoffs, but there is no doubt the team has a lot to be proud of in the end.

Evangel (31-11) eliminated the Wildcats from the HAAC playoffs on Friday afternoon, defeating Baker (31-21) in a doubleheader, 6-4 and 4-0.

Evangel never trailed in game one as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before adding two runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Renata Dill led the way offensively going 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI’s. Maggie Holmberg pitched five innings giving up three earned runs on 10 hits before being relieved by Heather Gruber.

Game two started in a similar fashion as Evangel jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back. Kaitlyn Hasty started on the rubber yet again and didn’t disappoint, giving up just two hits while pitching shutout ball.

Maggie Holmberg led the way at the plate going 2-for-2. Katie Worley was the only other Wildcat to record a hit going 1-for-4.

Erin Greenwood pitched a complete game giving up four earned runs on seven hits in the loss.
