Wildcats split with Kansas Wesleyan in regular season finale
SALINA, Kan. – The Baker softball team closed out its regular season on Tuesday afternoon with a doubleheader split against Kansas Wesleyan.
Baker (31-19) got on the scoreboard first in game one thanks to a Renata Dill solo home run in the first inning. The Coyotes tied the game in the bottom of the second, but Baker slowly pulled away inning by inning. Katie Worley added a solo home run in the sixth inning as the Wildcats went on to win 5-1.
Erin Greenwood (8-9) went the distance on the rubber giving up just one earned run on four hits in the victory.
In game two, the Coyotes came out with hot bats. Kansas Wesleyan (28-16) put up three runs in the first inning and one run in the second inning en route to a 9-2 victory.
Heather Gruber went four innings on the rubber giving up six runs on nine hits. Brittany Vollenweider pitched two innings in relief and gave up two earned runs on two hits.
Erin Greenwood was the lone offensive spark going 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
