Wildcats walk-off twice against Benedictine
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The weather wasn’t snowing this time around, as the Baker Wildcats defeated Benedictine College in a doubleheader that was originally scheduled to be played on March 27th.
Matt Abel got the rally started in the bottom of the eighth inning with a lead-off single and Bryan Kindle followed with a single to right, moving Abel over to third. Brandon Truitt came through yet again with a single to tie the game at 8-8. Jared Herbet was intentionally walked to load the bases, but Chase Dengel’s sacrifice fly to right-center sealed the game for Kindle to score from third.
With the victory, Baker eliminated the Ravens from the 2011 HAAC Playoffs.
Dengel led the way offensively going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI’s, Brandon Truitt added two RBI’s while going 3-for-5.
James Gricol picked up the victory pitching three innings while giving up one earned run on two hits.
Game two was played as a non-conference game, due to the fact that game one of the doubleheader was already played on March 27th. Baker won that game 4-2. View the box score here
The Wildcats will return to action on Friday afternoon for a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader with MidAmerica Nazarene.
