BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – You might not have known it by looking at the weather, but the Baker University softball team continues to ride a hot streak in conference play.  Baker defeated Missouri Valley College, 3-0 in game one and 4-2 in game two.

Game one saw a great defensive effort from freshman Maggie Holmberg as she pitched seven innings, while giving up no earned runs on six hits. Erin Greenwood led the way offensively going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI’s. Brooke Allen also chipped in going 2-for-3.

Game two saw the Wildcats put together another consistent effort with Heather Gruber pitching four innings while giving up one earned run on eight hits. Erin Greenwood finished the game going three innings while giving up one earned run on four hits.

Offensively, the Wildcats put together a big sixth inning to close the game out.  Annie Hannon got the scoring started in the in the second inning thanks to a solo HR over the center field fence. Erin Greenwood knocked a two out double deep to center field in the sixth inning to plate the third run and Baker never trailed from that point forward.

“We got conference play started exactly like we had envisioned,” said head coach Matt Windle. “We play a non-conference game against Haskell Indian Nations on Wednesday. I hope everyone can make it out to the field.”
