Wildcats sweep Sterling College; prepare to face Central Methodist Saturday

Baker vs Sterling

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker offense came alive Thursday evening at Sauder Field as the Wildcats put up eight runs on 14 hits in a come-from-behind victory.

Sterling College opened the game with a six-run first inning, but the Wildcats weathered the storm and managed to chip away at a six run deficit.

Brandon Truitt led the way offensively going 3-for-3 with three RBI’s and a homerun. Matt Abel, Steven Stewart and Josh Zach each recorded two hits in the contest.

“Coming from behind after that long first inning was huge for us,” said head coach Phil Hannon. “I’m happy we were able to finally get the games in after some of the weather we had.”

Josh Reed led the Wildcats in game two going 2-for-2 at the plate, while designated hitter Justin Lane went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s.

The Wildcats return to action this weekend when they face Central Methodist for a 1 p.m., doubleheader on Saturday. Baker will also face Lindenwood at 1 p.m., on Sunday.
