Baker men set to take the hardwood at Columbia CollegeWommack

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Baker men’s basketball team will be back in action on New Years Eve when it travels to Columbia, Mo., to take part in the Columbia College Classic. Friday evening the Wildcats will face William Woods University at 4 p.m. CST before facing host No. 23 Columbia College at 8 p.m. CST Saturday.

Baker (4-7, 1-3 HAAC) is coming off its first conference win of the season against Central Methodist University on Dec. 9th. Three Wildcats scored in double figures with Jack Shortell leading the way scoring 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor in the contest.

Jaris Wommack and Andre Strozier continue to pace the Wildcats offensively averaging 15.5 and 12.4 points per game respectively. Strozier also leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.3.


William Woods University (4-9) started the 2010-11 campaign on a six-game losing streak before turning things around to go 4-3 in its previous seven contests. Logan Decker continues to lead the Owls offense with 13.3 points per game.

No. 23 Columbia College (11-2) is coming off a commanding 62-46 victory over Benedictine College on Dec. 20th. The Cougars last defeat came on Dec. 11th when they dropped a 76-66 contest to No. 1 Robert Morris University (Ill.). Darnell Moore anchors the Cougars averaging 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
