Cross country teams have strong showing at NAIA Mid-States

WINFIELD, Kan. - The Baker cross country teams ended the regular season on Saturday at the NAIA Mid-States Classic. The women’s team finished third out of 23 teams and the men came in fifth out of 20 squads.

The Baker women had 104 points in the 5,000m competition, which was won by Kansas Wesleyan University with 66 points.

Freshman Megan Rosa led the way on the women’s side posting a 10th place finish with a time of 19:27.07. The Cats‘ most consistent runner, Lauren Jaqua finished in 12th place with a time of 19:32.58.

“The windy conditions made for some skewed times,” said head coach Zach Kindler. “We probably could’ve been about 30 seconds faster under normal conditions.”

The Baker men’s team finished with 178 points in the 8,000m race which was won by Wayland Baptist with 32 points.

Junior Chris Schideman took 29th place with a time of 26:55.98, while sophomore Corey Clark took 31st place at 26:59.67

The Wildcats will return to action on Nov. 6th when they host the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships in Baldwin City.
