Baker held on to a 20-14 lead late when they stopped the Benedictine offense on the 12-yard line with just under two minutes remaining in regulation to seal the victory.
Offensively, running back John Babb was stellar rushing for 146 yards with one touchdown. Freshman quarterback Jake Morse went 9-for-20 with 116 yards and one touchdown.
Freshman Mike Stevenson stole the show defensively recording two interceptions and five tackles. Junior Adam Steele led the Baker defense with 11 tackles.
The Wildcats (3-4, 3-3) made the most out of their opportunities Saturday capitalizing on five Raven turnovers. Benedictine (4-3, 4-3) actually outgained the Wildcats in total yardage 376-330.
As for special teams, Jared Morss had his best kicking game of the season hitting two field goals, one of which was from 45-yards.
“We had some good performances today,” said head coach Mike Grossner. “We’ve got three potential HAAC Players of the Week at their respective positions.”
The Wildcats will return to action next Saturday when they face Graceland University at 2 p.m., on homecoming.
Wildcats tie Missouri Valley College, 1-1
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw for the second-consecutive game on Saturday evening.
Chelsea Dunn got the scoring started in the 7th minute when she scored on a header from Jordan Dolbin. From that point forward the game was pretty much a stalemate until Breann Kinworthy of Missouri Valley netted a goal just before halftime.
The Wildcats (7-4-3) will return to action on Saturday Oct. 23rd when they face Lindenwood University at 5:30 p.m.
Bauer propels Baker past Missouri Valley College, 3-2
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After dropping a 3-0 decision to Park University last Tuesday, Baker rebounded against conference foe Missouri Valley College.
Ethan Bauer tallied a goal 81st minute to propel Baker to a 3-2 victory over the Vikings on Saturday night at Liston Stadium.
Nate Byarly and Laeth Hamil also tallied goals in the contest for the Wildcats, who improved to 4-1-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Goalkeeper Michael Sheridan recorded two saves in the contest before being replaced by Alex Burton.
Baker will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23rd when they face Lindenwood University at 8 p.m., from Liston Stadium.
Women's Cross Country
Jaqua leads Baker women at Fort Hays State
HAYS, Kan. – The Baker women didn’t miss a beat after having a week off from competition. The Wildcats finished in sixth-place behind five NCAA squads this past weekend.
Freshman Lauren Jaqua led the way posting a time of 18:45.80 in the women’s 5k race, good enough for 24th overall.
Lindsey Brown (pictured) and Megan Rosa followed suit behind Jaqua, posting times of 18:58.60 (27th overall) and 18:59.10 (28th overall).
Men's Cross Country
Baker men take ninth-place at Fort Hays State
HAYS, Kan. – The Baker men’s cross country team was back in action this weekend when they traveled to the Tiger Open at Fort Hays State University.
Chris Scheideman led the way for the ‘Cats in the men’s 8k race taking 41st-place overall with a time of 25:52.10.
Aaron Caldwell posted a time of 26:08.60, good enough for 46th overall.
The Wildcats will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
