KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Expectations for a strong football season are nothing new in the Mike Grossner era at Baker University. But as far as other coaches are concerned, the Wildcats aren't one of the top programs to fear.

The Wildcats are ranked No. 24 in the NAIA Football Preseason Coaches' Poll, and were picked fifth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Three other HAAC teams rounded out the NAIA Top 25 with defending national champion Lindenwood at No. 2, MidAmerica Nazarene No. 6, and Missouri Valley No. 10. Ottawa University enters the season at No. 9.

The Wildcats open the season on August 28th in the Victory Sports Network First Down Classic against Ottawa University, they return home the following weekend to face Missouri Valley College before traveling to MidAmerica Nazarene.

"From the standpoint of our program, we're gonna find out what we're made of really early," stated head coach Mike Grossner. "We'll take this three-game stretch and use it as an evaluation period for our team before we continue into the HAAC," Grossner said. "We've got seven more games after that to really win some ballgames and finish in the top of the conference."
