Double Dip Defeat

Brittany Hines

Brittany Hines scored a team-high 14 points in the defeat.

William Jewell overpowers Baker, 66-52

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Brittany Hines scored 14 points and Aubree Gustin added 13 in a heartbreaking setback to HAAC rival William Jewell College on Thursday evening.

The Wildcats (16-10, 12-4) shot only 14-for-49 (29 percent) from the field and turned the ball over 18 times.

Injuries played a large factor. After losing junior guard Cameron Roland just before winter break, the Wildcats dropped another starter on Thursday evening when Jenna Brantley went down with what appeared to be a season-ending knee injury.

William Jewell College (19-7, 12-4) now moves into a second-place tie with the Wildcats atop the Heart of America Athletic Conference standings.

The Cardinals shot 25-for-54 (46 percent) from the floor and only recorded 11 turnovers.

Brandie Roberts torched the Baker defense with 29 points off 13-of-16 (81 percent) shooting from the field.  Hillary Adams was the only other player to score in double figures with 13 points.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Missouri Valley College.
