Coach Decker and the Wildcats can overtake first place Thursday night with a win.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The battle for the top spot in the Heart of America Athletic Conference standings will take place on Thursday night in the George F. Collins Center as the Baker women take on rival William Jewell College.

HAAC leader Evangel has dropped two of its past three games, putting Baker in prime position to join the Crusaders at the top of the conference. Both Baker and William Jewell are riding two-game winning streaks coming into the contest.

Junior Emily Gibson, averaging 15.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, continues to lead the Wildcats. Gibson is the only Wildcat shooting over 50 percent at 52.5.

Hillary Adams continues to have the hot hand for the Cardinals. Adams is averaging 15.5 points per game and ranks No. 5 nationally in three-point field goals made per game at 2.87.

"Both teams need to win this game to have a shot at winning the conference, I think having the home crowd behind us will be a big factor," stated head coach Susan Decker.

The first 100 Baker students will receive a Wildcat spirit towel, compliments of the Baker baseball team. Baker students can sign-up to win an Ipod Shuffle in the first half of the women's game. The winner will be announced after the men's game. You must be present to win.

The Baker men will look to extend its winning streak to three games on Thursday evening.

Junior Andre Strozier continues to pace the Wildcats with 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

William Jewell head coach Larry Holley and Baker head coach Rick Weaver will be squaring off for the final time in their long illustrious careers. Holley and Weaver both rank No. 1 at their respective schools for career wins. Between the two, they own more than 1,000 NAIA victories.

Rick Weaver Appreciation Night will be Thursday, Feb. 25, when the Wildcats take on MidAmerica Nazarene at 7:30 p.m. at the Collins Center.
