Evangel rolls into town for conference openersBaker Basketball

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker men's and women's basketball teams will be back in action Tuesday evening when they host Evangel University in the Heart of America Athletic Conference season opener. The Baker women (3-4) will look to rebound after dropping their last two contests. The Baker men (6-2) hope to continue their five-game winning streak, the longest since 2006 when they won five straight to begin the season.

The No. 24 Evangel women (6-2) were picked No. 1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll. The Evangel men (4-4) are riding a two-game winning streak.

The Baker women are led by junior Emily Gibson, who is averaging a team-high 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per contest. Junior Jenna Brantley has a team-best 4.29 assists and 2.1 steals per game.

The Baker men come into play with three players averaging double-figure points. Andre Strozier leads the way with 14.7, followed by Austin Bond with 13.8 and Malcolm Greer with 13.4. Strozier leads the team in rebounding with 8.8 per game.

The Wildcats will be back at home two more times this week when they host Benedictine on Dec. 3 and Lindenwood on Dec. 5.
