Baker track and field highlights weekend events
- The Baker 4x100 relay team set a new school record at ESU.

The Baker track and field teams were back in action this weekend when they traveled to the ESU State Farm Relays in Emporia, Kan. The teams didn't dissapoint. The Baker men's 4x100 team (Hannon, Harris, Anderson, Okiomah) set a new school record with a time of 42.12, surpassing the previous record of 42.65 set in 2006 by Randle, Hubbard, Gleason, and Pitts at the Simpson Invitational.
JL Anderson and Jeremiah May were also successful in qualifying for the 2010 NAIA Outdoor National Championships with their respective performances in the 100 meter hurdles and javelin.

Cummins named HAAC Pitcher of the Week
- Sophomore Chris Cummins was named HAAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker Wildcats left-hander Chris Cummins was tabbed HAAC Pitcher of the Week the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
The Corona, California native recorded two complete-game victories against Graceland University and Benedictine College. Cummins racked up 16 strikeouts with just five walks while posting a 1.93 ERA. On the season, Cummins owns a 3-0 record with a 2.83 ERA.

Former Avila head coach Bruce Young returns to Baker
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University football staff is pleased to announce the addition of former Baker assistant coach and Avila head coach Bruce Young to the coaching staff.
Young returns to Baker after serving as head coach at Avila University for the past five years. During his tenure at Avila, Young graduated 50 of 52 seniors, raised the team grade-point average from 2.2 to 2.8 and coached 10 academic All-Americans.
A member of the Missouri High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame, Young enjoyed success at Norborne, Marceline and Ray-Pec high schools. Young was an assistant coach at Baker University for five seasons before taking over Avila’s program.

Baker men take fourth at Missouri Valley Invitational, women grab second
MARSHALL, Mo. - The Baker men's golf team traveled to Marshall, Mo., this past weekend to participate in their second 36-hole tournament event of the 2010 season.
With the golf course in good shape, Sunday evening thunderstorms and another Monday morning thunderstorm dropped several inches of the rain on the golf course making for wet and soggy conditions. After a weather delay on Monday morning, the first-round got underway. The clouds were replaced with sunny and warm conditions.

Cummins dominates, improves to 4-0
- LHP Chris Cummins dominated again on Wednesday afternoon improving to 4-0.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Heart of America Athletic Conferece Pitcher of the Week showed the Baker faithful why he was so deserving Wednesday evening. Cummins improved to 4-0 on the season giving up one earned run on five hits en route to his third-consecutive complete-game victory.
Offensively, Jose Orozco led the WIldcats going 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Jared Herbert and Tad Eubanks also added runs in the 4-1 victory.

Wildcats drop two games in seventh inning
- Senior Dustin Moomau went 4-for-7 Saturday afternoon.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The tale of two games Saturday afternoon ended with the same storyline, a heartbreaking seventh-inning loss.
The Baker bullpen surrendered 15 runs in a two-game doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against No. 22 Avila University. Game one saw the Wildcats give up a 10-run seventh, and game two saw a five-run seventh. The Wildcats close out their season series with Avila University tomorrow afternoon in Kansas City, Mo.

Senior Day sweep, Wildcats defeat St. Mary's

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University softball team sent their seniors out in style Sunday afternoon posting a sweep of visiting St. Mary's (Kan.) in non-league action. The Wildcats posted a 2-1 extra inning victory in game one, then followed with a 2-1 victory in game two.

Wildcats announce changes to 2010 spring schedule
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Due to the re-installment of new field turf at Liston Stadium, the Baker University football team has made changes to its 2010 spring football schedule. Spring practice is slated to begin on April 16, with the first scrimmage on April 22.
The annual Alumni Game and Senior Awards day is scheduled for May 1, with action slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
