Pryor, Allen receive top honors
Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University junior outside hitter Brooke Pryor was honored as the Heart of America Athletic Conference volleyball player of the year and sophomore libero Brooke Allen was selected the conference libero of the year, the HAAC announced on Thursday.
Pryor, Overbrook, Kan., ranked 10th nationally with 4.2 kills per set. Allen, Topeka, Kan., ranked third nationally with 6.8 digs per set. Both players were named to the all-HAAC first team.
Other members from the Wildcats’ record-setting 32-4 team were recognized by the conference:
- Jana Boss, freshman setter, Shawnee Mission, Kan.
- Christina Delladio, sophomore middle hitter, Bonner Springs, Kan.
- Nikki Anderson, senior hitter, Alma, Kan.

Baker men defeat University of St. Mary
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Baker men's basketball team continued its winning ways on Saturday evening when they defeated the University of St. Mary 95-87.
Andre Strozier recorded a season high 26 points while shooting 8-11 from the floor and 4-4 from beyond the arc.
Four players scored in double digits: Strozier with 26, Brock Entner with 17, Jaris Wommack with 17 and Austin Bond with 13. The balanced attack was key. Team scoring leader Malcolm Greer chipped in with nine points while pulling down two rebounds. Baker now owns a 5-2 record on the season.

Baker men face Tabor College Monday evening
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker men's basketball team will be back in action Monday when they host Tabor College,1-5, at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats, 5-2, have three players averaging double figures: Andre Strozier with 13.6, Austin Bond with 13.4 and Malcolm Greer with 13.4. Strozier who also averages 8.9 rebounds per game and has recorded double-doubles in three contests this season.
On Saturday evening the Wildcats defeated the University of St. Mary, 95-87. Andre Strozier recorded a season high 26 points while shooting 8-11 from the floor and 4-4 from beyond the arc.

Six players score in double digits as Baker rolls
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker men's basketball team continues to ride a hot streak. They have recorded five straight wins after defeating Tabor College Monday evening by a score of 104-92.
Six players scored in double figures: Andre Strozier with 22, Sam Kenney with 17, Austin Bond with 16, Jaris Wommack with16, Malcolm Greer with 13 and Manuel Medina with 10.
The Wildcats shot 58 percent from the floor and 33 percent from beyond the arc en route to their longest winning streak since 2006 when they won five straight to begin the season.
Tuesday evening the WIldcats will travel to Maryville, Mo., for a exhibition contest with Northwest Missouri State at 7:30 p.m.

All-Conference selections announced
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Five Baker University football players were named to the all-HAAC first team on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior running back Richie Bryant (pictured), Louisiana, Mo., led the HAAC in rushing in 2009, averaging 127.4 yards per game and was one of five players selected to the first team.
Other members selected to the first team include:
Clint Benge, senior offensive linemen, Lenexa, Kan.
Andrew Patch, senior defensive end, Overland Park, Kan. Patch ranked No. 4 nationally in 2009, averaging one sack per game.
Levi Calhoun, senior defensive linemen, Oklahoma City, Okla.
Colton Miller, junior defensive back, Largo, Fla.

Evangel rolls into town for conference openers
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker men's and women's basketball teams will be back in action Tuesday evening when they host Evangel University in the Heart of America Athletic Conference season opener. The Baker women (3-4) will look to rebound after dropping their last two contests. The Baker men (6-2) hope to continue their five-game winning streak, the longest since 2006 when they won five straight to begin the season.
The No. 24 Evangel women (6-2) were picked No. 1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll. The Evangel men (4-4) are riding a two-game winning streak.

Emily Gibson recorded her third double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds, paving the way to a 66-61 victory over No. 24 Evangel.
Jenna Brantley played a key role, matching the single-game assist record of 10 that she set against Friends University on Nov. 10.

Baker to host conference rivals Benedictine Thursday evening
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker women (4-4, 1-0) will get things started Thursday when they host rival Benedictine College (3-4, 0-0) at 5:30 p.m. at the Collins Center.
Baker enters Thursday's game 1-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference after defeating No. 24 Evangel University Tuesday evening, 66-61. Brittany Hines led the way, scoring 26 points off 10-12 shooting from the floor and 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
Emily Gibson recorded her third double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Jenna Brantley played a key role, matching the single-game assist record of 10 that she set against Friends University on Nov. 10.
Gibson leads the Wildcats with 13.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
