Baker set to host two home events this week
Both Baker tennis teams have finally been able to get outside after some poor weather to start the 2010 season. The Baker men's tennis team currently owns a 2-1 record with victories against Friends University and Missouri Baptist College. Friday evening the men defeated Missouri Baptist 5-4 at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility in Lawrence, Kan. View the full results here
The women's tennis team currently owns a 2-2 overall match record with victories against Morningside College and Friends University.
Saturday afternoon saw both teams back in action in Baldwin City when they squared off with Bethel College. Both the men and women dropped their matches 6-3. Detailed results will be available later in the week.
Get out and watch some tennis aciton this week. Both Baker tennis teams will be in action Monday afternoon against Tabor College at 4:00 p.m, and Tuesday afternoon against conference foe Missouri Valley College at 4:00 p.m, as well.
Baker tennis gets season rolling
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker men's and women's tennis teams are off to an undefeated season in 2010. The Baker women defeated Morningside and Friends last week and currently rank No. 2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Baker men (pictured) sit at 1-0 after taking down Friends last Saturday.
The tennis teams compete year-round. The limited fall season focuses on individual performance at several tournaments.
The spring season is all about team match play and building for the conference tournament. The winner of the conference tournament advances to the NAIA National Tennis Tournament in May to compete for a national championship.

Tourbeau Sports Group names Bauer, Byarlay, and Lowndes to “Top Prospects” report
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – After a season of firsts, the Baker men’s soccer team continues to garner the postseason accolades. Juniors Ethan Bauer (Olathe, Kan.) and Nate Byarlay were named to the Tourbeau Sports Group Top 40 Professional Prospects List. Senior Tom Lowndes (Cardiff, Wales) was named to the honorable mention squad.
In 2007, Tourbeau Sports Group, LLC began its mark in the sports development market. Over the past few years, TSG has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the most prominent companies, teams, organizations and individuals across the world in helping make a difference in sports.

Baker soccer program sets school-record with five NAIA All-Americans
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In a year that saw the Baker women’s soccer team advance to its second consecutive NAIA National quarterfinal and the Baker men’s soccer team advance to its first ever NAIA National semifinal, the teams set another record on Monday afternoon when the NAIA announced that five players from the Wildcat soccer programs had been named NAIA All-Americans.
Seniors Alix Schiraldi (Lenexa, Kan.) and Maggie Dupes (Fallbrook, Calif.), along with junior Jordan Dolbin (La Mirada, Calif.) were all named NAIA All-Americans on the women’s side. Schiraldi and Dolbin were named to the third-team, while Dupes was an honorable mention.

Wildcats fall to No. 1 Lindsey Wilson in NAIA Semifinals
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Eight-time national champion Lindsey Wilson defeated Baker University 2-0 Friday evening at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, ending Baker’s historic run to the NAIA Men’s National Championship semifinals.
The second-seeded Blue Raiders jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the contest when Eddy Campbell netted the first tally of the game thanks to a shot into the box from Mat Luak.
No. 3 Baker (20-2-1) was outshot 6-4 on goal and 14-13 overall. Odaine Sinclair finished the contest as Baker’s overall shot leader with five, one of which was on goal.

Men’s soccer ranks second nationally with seven NAIA Scholar-Athletes
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – As the Baker University men’s soccer team sits just hours away from participating in its first-ever NAIA Final Four, the NAIA has announced the Wildcats ranked second nationally with seven Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Nick Aguilar (Olathe, Kan.), Tony Weber (Olathe, Kan.), Michael Sheridan (Golden, Colo.), Drew Clement (Lenxa, Kan.), Laeth Hamil (Olathe, Kan.), Richard Klein (Prince George, Canada), and Josh Rydberg (Olathe, Kan.) were all named to the elite list.

No. 3 Baker faces No. 1 Lindsey Wilson in NAIA Semifinal showdown
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The Baker University men’s soccer team will have its shot at advancing to the programs first-ever NAIA National Championship game on Friday evening when the third-ranked Wildcats face top-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) at 6 p.m., CST from the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
No. 3 Baker (20-1-1) is coming off a 3-1 victory over No. 6 Grand View (Iowa) in the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Quarterfinals.
