BU Soccer opens 2011 in Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The fifth ranked Baker women’s soccer team looks to begin its campaign towards Decatur Ala., on Friday afternoon as they face Westminster College (Utah) in the season opener in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Senior Alix Schiraldi led the Wildcats last season with 13 goals, and has high hopes of doing so again in 2011. Maggie Dupes returns in goal after averaging a 1.23 goals against average in 2010. Junior Jordan Dolbin looks to build upon her 2010 postseason performance, as she was named to the NAIA all-tournament team after netting four goals in the postseason.

No. 5 Baker women drop season opener to Westminster
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Margo Hickman went one-on-one with Maggie Dupes in the 108th minute of play and netted the game-winning goal to spurn a 2-1 upset over No. 5 Baker on Friday afternoon.
The game was scoreless heading into halftime as both squads played nearly head-to-head in every statistical category. Both teams finished the game with eight shots on goal apiece. Margo Hickman led Westminster with four shots on goal, while Jordan Dolbin led the Wildcats with three.

Sinclair lifts Baker past Westminster in season opener
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Odaine Sinclair put the Wildcats on the scoreboard early on a cross from Andy Griffin and that was all the Wildcats needed to get past Westminster 1-0 on Friday evening.
Sophomore Matt Bickley made four saves in the contest to record his first career shutout. Baker outshot the Griffins 9-4 on goal.

No. 23 Baker to open season against No. 10 Ottawa
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - No. 23-ranked Baker University, which closed last season with a five-game winning streak, will open 2011 on Saturday against No. 10 Ottawa at Liston Stadium. Kickoff for the Victory Sports Network First Down Classic is set for 7 p.m.

No. 23 Baker rolls to commanding 41-16 victory over No. 10 Ottawa
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University football team got its season started with a bang on Saturday evening, defeating No. 10 Ottawa University 41-16.
Shane Gizmo got the scoring started for Ottawa in the first quarter on a nine-yard touchdown run thanks to an 11-play 92-yard drive for the Braves.
Baker wasted no time punching back.
On the ensuing kickoff junior Tyler Hatcher found a gap and broke free for an 82-yard kickoff return to even the score at 7-7.

Men’s soccer goes 2-0 at Westminster tournament
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Baker University men’s soccer team finished off an unblemished opening weekend defeating Westminster (Utah) and Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) by scores of 1-0 on Friday and Saturday.
Odaine Sinclair scored an early goal for the Wildcats on Friday, and that was all the Wildcats would need to get past Westminster in the season opener. Sophomore Matt Bickley made four saves in the contest to record his first career shutout.

Baker cross country opens 2011 season on Saturday
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker men’s and women’s cross country squads will open up their seasons over the Labor Day weekend. The Wildcats will be hosting their annual Maple Leaf Invitational race on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Baldwin City Golf Course.
After winning the 2010 HAAC Championship, the Baker women’s team has high hopes entering the season. With nearly everyone returning, coach Zach Kindler believes the ‘Cats should have all the pieces to make a splash on the national level.
