Baker women upset by Culver-Stockton CollegeBrittany Hines

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Coming into Saturday afternoon, the Wildcats knew Culver-Stockton wasn’t a pushover game. Culver went on to upset Baker 67-62 recording its second straight upset over a team in the upper half of the standings. Culver-Stockton defeated William Jewell College on Monday night in Liberty, Mo.

Brittany Hines led all Baker scorers with 16 points shooting 6-for-14 from the field. Emily Gibson added 14 points and 10 rebounds while Aubree Gustin chipped in with 10 points.

Baker wins in blowout over Culver-Stockton College, 78-54

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker men’s basketball team shot lights out in the first half against Culver-Stockton to coast to their 11th win of the season.  Andre Strozier and Jaris Wommack fueled the blowout with game-highs of 22 points apiece for the Wildcats.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The record says 11-15, but the improvement on the floor says so much more as Baker University’s men’s team continues to play hard-nosed basketball.

“Being picked 10th in the Heart of America Athletic Conference at the start of the season was great motivation for us,” first-year Wildcat head basketball coach Brett Ballard said. “We used that as a rallying cry early on in practice. These guys have worked hard in practice, and now we’re starting to consistently see the results carry over into our games.”

Baker wrestling defeats NCAA DII Newman in commanding fashion

WICHITA, Kan. – The Baker University wrestling team remains unblemished in dual meets. Baker defeated Newman University 34-12 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 7-0 on the season and 11-0 all-time.

Jordan McGuire (Edmond, Okla.) won by forfeit to give Baker its first points of the afternoon and from that point forward Baker won five-straight matches to seal the victory.

Basketball teams set for final regular-season showdown with William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. – One of the longest standing rivalries in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) will come to an end on Thursday evening, as Baker and William Jewell square off for the final time as conference opponents. William Jewell next season will become an active member in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLCV) in NCAA Division II.

Lady Cats‘ softball team opens up the season on Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Wildcat softball team kicks off the 2011 campaign with a trip to Fort Worth, Texas for the Cowtown Classic. Pool play begins Friday February 18th against stiff competition.

The first match up is against Northwood University (Texas). Last season Northwood (33-24, 20-8 RRAA) finished third in the highly competitive Red River Athletic Conference.

Wildcat baseball team set for season opener

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Baseball season has officially arrived.

The Baker University baseball team will open its 2011 campaign this weekend on the campus of Rogers State University.

With 16 freshmen and five returning starters from a squad that went 17-24 in 2010, Wildcat coach Phil Hannon fully expects his team to be competitive.
