Baker grabs second-place; Kindler named Coach of the Year
Track and Field will look towards the 2010 National Championships.
ATCHISON, Kan. -The second day of the 2010 HAAC Track and Field Championships saw the Baker University women's team take second-place, while the men took third.
Freshman Devin Freeman (10,000 Meter Run) and junior Aubree Gustin (Javelin Throw) highlighted the women's side taking first-place in their respective events.
On the men's side, the 4x400 relay team, Travis Miller (High Jump), and Tanner Gleason (Decathalon) all took first-place.

Anderson to step down as tennis coach
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University Interim Athletics Director Dr. Pat Long announced that men’s and women’s tennis coach Bruce Anderson will be stepping down from his position to assume a new position as Associate Professor of Political Science at Florida Southern College. Baker will begin a search for a new coach this Friday.
Theresa Yetmar, Associate Athletics Director, noted that “Bruce has been an asset to our Athletics Department, both as an Assistant Coach and our Head Coach for the past two seasons. He has guided our tennis teams with enthusiasm, passion, and dedication. We are thankful for his leadership. Our tennis programs have a history of success, and we will continue to build on the current foundation that has been established. We will work diligently to find the best fit for Baker University tennis moving forward.”

Lynn Bott To Be Inducted Into NATA Hall of Fame
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Lynn Bott, director of sports medicine at Baker University, will officially be inducted into the National Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame on Thursday, June 24, 2010, in Philadelphia.
This prestigious honor is bestowed on certified athletic trainers who have made a difference in the profession.
"Dedication, innovation, loyalty and leadership are common traits among Hall of Fame members," said NATA Executive Director Eve Becker-Doyle, CAE. "Those who receive the honor serve as an inspiration to their peers and as role models to the next generation of certified athletic trainers."

Four Wildcats named All-Conference

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Four Baker student-athletes were among the list of All-Heart of America Athletic Conference baseball players, released Thursday afternoon. In a vote by league coaches, pitcher Chris Cummins (Corona, Calif.) garnered first-team accolades, followed by senior second baseman Nick Peterson (Olathe, Kan.) who along with being named to the first-team, was also awarded the gold glove for his stellar play at second base.

Wildcats grab three all-HAAC selections, look forward to 2011

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - After advancing to the HAAC Playoffs for the first time in four years, the Wildcats added more accolades to a team that had already reached new heights. As selected by league coaches, the Wildcats had three players named to the Heart of America all-conference team.

Schreiner stepping down as spirit squad coach
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - After serving as the head spirit squad coach for the past two seasons, head coach Taylor Schreiner announced she will be stepping down to pursue her masters degree.
Schreiner broke the news to the spirit squad members last week at practice. "I have certainly loved my time at Baker! Everyone here has been very supportive of me and the cheer squad," Schreiner said on Sunday. "I'm very confident that I am leaving a strong foundation of current members and new members that will help the cheer squad grow and achieve the success that I know they are capable of and deserve! I have enjoyed this experience and will miss everyone, but I feel like this is the time to continue to pursue my masters. I am confident that Jeremy will be a fantastic fit as the next head spirit squad coach at Baker."
