Calhoun and Price advance to Championship Round at NAIA Nationals
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – (Updated Team Standings and Brackets | PDF) After day one of action, the Baker University wrestling team sits in 17th place overall at the 2011 NAIA Wrestling National Championships with 9.5 points.
Sophomore Jarell Price (Las Vegas, Nev.) and senior Levi Calhoun (Moore, Okla.) highlighted the Baker squad, as they were the only two wrestlers to advance to the championship round on Friday. In the 149-pound match, Price will collide with 2010 champion Jefferey Pelton (Notre Dame, Ohio). As for the heavyweights, Levi Calhoun will face Orlando Scales (Notre Dame, Ohio) in his quarterfinal match.

Gathright and Korn lead the way at NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships
GENEVA, Ohio – (live results) Two Baker University athletes advanced on Thursday to the finals at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field championships.
Jeremiah Gathright placed fourth overall in the triple jump with a mark of 14.84 meters to reach the finals. Jeremiah Korn finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 16.34 meters to advance.

Baseball team returns to action Saturday and Sunday
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Wildcat baseball team split its Wednesday afternoon doubleheader with the St. Mary’s Spires. The two games played out exactly the opposite of each other.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Wildcats had the bats cracking and the pitching was solid. Chris Cummins took the first pitch and set the tone for the Baker defense. Cummins struck out three of the six batters he faced. In the second inning, Brandon Truitt and Jared Herbert led off with back-to-back singles. Bryan Kindle hit a double to score Truitt. A wild pitch and an error brought in the two other runs for the Wildcats.

Wrestling takes home two NAIA All-Americans at NAIA National Championships
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Baker University wrestling tem closed out a successful 2010-11 campaign this past weekend at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships in the U.S. Cellular Center. Baker finished with 33.5 points, good enough for 16th overall out of 39 teams. The Wildcats also crowned two NAIA All-Americans in Jarell Price (Las Vegas, Nev.) at 149 pounds and heavyweight Levi Calhoun (Moore, Okla.).
“I couldn’t be more proud of the way these guys performed in their second season of existence,” said head coach Jimmy May. “Levi and Jarell will go down in the Baker history books. They will always have the that to hang their hat on. They were the first-ever to become All-Americans for our program.”

Wildcats drop conference opener at Culver-Stockton College
CANTON, Mo. – The Baker University baseball team dropped its Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) opener on Monday afternoon to Culver-Stockton College. The Wildcat offense was never able to get anything going as Baker tallied just six hits in the doubleheader defeat. Baker dropped game one by a 1-0 score and fell in the nightcap 8-1.

Wildcats sweep Southwestern College in home opener
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The bats are starting to heat up for the Baker University softball team. The Wildcats (6-6) won their fourth-straight game on Thursday evening at Cavaness Field on the campus of Baker University.
Baker racked up 13 hits in game one en route to a 6-4 come-from-behind-victory. Brooke Allen led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Homeruns were the story though as Austin Boehm and Erin Greenwood each went yard to put the Wildcats ahead for good. Katie Worley and Erin Greenwood each led the team with three hits apiece.

Wildcats sweep Sterling College; prepare to face Central Methodist Saturday
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker offense came alive Thursday evening at Sauder Field as the Wildcats put up eight runs on 14 hits in a come-from-behind victory.
Sterling College opened the game with a six-run first inning, but the Wildcats weathered the storm and managed to chip away at a six run deficit.

Baseball and softball teams return to action Wednesday afternoon
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Coming off a tough weekend, the Baker University baseball team will look to get back on track Wednesday afternoon as it hosts Missouri Valley College (5-9, 0-4 HAAC) in a game that was originally scheduled to be played in Marshall, Mo.
The Wildcats (5-9, 1-5 HAAC) are coming off a weekend in which they won just one game over Central Methodist University, before dropping a doubleheader to Lindenwood University on Sunday.
