Baker men's basketball
The men's basketball program at Baker dates back to 1902-03 when the Wildcats went 6-5 under head coach Marshall Morton Morgan. Legendary coach Phog Allen compiled a 45-9 record from 1905-08, and led the 'Cats to an undefeated season in 1906-07 with a 14-0 record The program is now 101 years old and had 1048 wins at the start of the 2003-04 season. Current men's basketball coach Rick Weaver has picked up the lion's share of those wins. He passed Emil Liston, another former Wildcat coach now in the National Basketball Hall of Fame, in December 1999 when Weaver picked up his 237th win. At the start of the 2003-04 season, Weaver had 279 wins. The program attracts several of the area's top players, but also picks up international talent. |
