HEAD COACH RICK WEAVER

Rick Weaver has emerged as the dean of Baker coaches and is also known as one of the university's most humorous and charismatic leaders. Now in his 19th year as the Wildcat's head men's basketball coach, Weaver has taken a 101-year-old program to new heights.

Weaver became Baker's all-time win leader in December 1999 by passing NAIA coaching legend Emil Liston, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. His 1989 team made it to a post-season tournament, breaking a 48-year drought by the men's basketball program. The 1996 squad set the record for wins in a season, was the first to capture a share of the conference title in the program's history and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. Weaver was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1989, 1996 and 1998.

A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Weaver graduated in 1972 from Morningside College where he earned All-North Central Conference, NAIA All-District, and NCAA All-Region honors as a member of the basketball team.

After coaching at the high school level in Iowa for five years, Weaver served one year as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky University before taking over the helm at Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. At Westmar, Weaver's Eagles won the Tri-State Conference Championship during his second year and he then took the head job at Wayne State College. At Wayne State, Weaver's teams garnered four district playoff spots in five years. He received his master's degree from Iowa State University in 1997.

Weaver is also head coach of the men's golf team and has led the Wildcats to six conference titles.

ASSISTANT COACH BRIAN ASH

Brian Ash is beginning his third season as assistant men's basketball coach at Baker. He is a 1998 graduate of Central Methodist College, where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He teaches in the Baldwin School District and is head coach of the high school baseball team.
