2003 Men's Soccer Coaches
Head Coach Ron Pulvers
The Wildcats have been a constant threat to win the Heart of America
Athletic Conference and Region V championships since head coach Ron Pulvers
took over in 1996. Baker has been in the Top 25 each year, won four conference
championships (1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002), three conference tournament
championships (1997, 1998, 2002), and advanced to the region final five
teams.
Before coaching at Baker, Pulvers was an assistant coach at Midwestern
State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, for three years. The Indians
were the National Championship runner-up in 1995. Pulvers has a USSF "A"
license and a NSCAA advanced diploma. He has been named conference coach
of the year three times and was region coach of the year in 2002. He has
coached five conference players of the year, 12 All-Americans and 10 All-American
Scholar-Athletes. Pulvers has a bachelor of arts in Kinesiology from Westmont
College and Master of Science in Kinesiology from Midwestern State University.
Assistant Coach Jason Hooper is in his seventh year at Baker.
He played collegiately at Baker in 1991 and 1992 after transferring from
Orange Coast Community College in California. Hooper was a two-time All-South
Conference selection at Orange Coast and a two-time All-District player
at Baker. He has a bachelor of arts in psychology from Baker and a master
of social work from the University of Kansas. Pulvers considers him to
be a key tactician and motivator.
Assistant Coach Bobby Renneisen begins his second year on Pulvers'
staff at Baker. He was a team captain for the Wildcats in 2001. Pulvers
said Renneisen is a great student of the game and adds a fresh tactical
perspective.
Assistant Coach Eric Taylor returns to Baker after a stellar
senior season in 2002. The goalkeeper was the Heart of America Athletic
ConferenceÕs Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and first-team
all-conference. He also was first-team Region V and an NAIA All-American.
He will be responsible for training goalkeepers.
Student Assistant Kelly Wolverton had a stellar four-year career
at Baker and leaves as one of the most decorated players in the programÕs
history. He was a three-time captain, three-time first-team all-conference
selection, and was Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player
of the Year as a sophomore and junior. He was Region V Player of the Year
and a second-team All-American as a senior in 2002.
