Kathy Allen continues to lead the volleyball team to new heights in her sixth year at the helm of Baker's program. The Wildcats have won 28 matches in each of the past two seasons and have compiled a 107-49 record since 1999. During that time, Baker has finished in the top four of the Heart of America Athletic Conference every year. She has 122 total wins. Her players have also experienced individual success. She has coached two All-Americans and 10 All-American Scholar-Athletes, including all five seniors and juniors on last year's team. Allen received her Bachelors of Science degree from Emporia State University in 1978 and later began coaching local youth leagues and high school. She also coached at Emporia State and Washburn University before becoming Baker's head coach in 1998. In 1989, she founded the Topeka Juniors USAV Volleyball club and served as director for 10 years. She is also on the Junior Olympics Board of Directors. Allen is an assistant professor of physical education at Baker. She is married with three children, ages 22, 18 and 13, and resides in Lawrence.
Kersting just finished a stellar career as a setter at Washburn University. She started three years for the Ichabods and was first-team All-MIAA in 2002. She also has extensive experience as a coach at the junior level. She will be an assistant varsity coach and head coach of the junior varsity squad, and will train setters.
