2003 Fall Season

Sep. 12 - Newcomer Libby Lewis, junior from Syracuse, again led Baker with a score of 161 to place fifth at the Lady Builder Fall Classic Sep. 11-12 in Winfield, Kan.

Lewis, a transfer from Quincy University who led the team at the I-80 Classic the previous week, cut her score to a 73 on the second day after an 88 on the first day. Jordan Beam-Ward, senior from Olathe, finished tied for 15th with a score of 170 after shooting a 77 on the second day.

Baker's team score dropped 44 strokes, from 386 to 342, on the second day of the tournament, 15 strokes more than any other team was able to cut. The Wilcdats finished in sixth place.


Sep. 5 - Jordan Beam-Ward, senior from Olathe, moved into the Top 10 with a strong finish on the second day of the I-80 Fall Classic at York Country Club in York, Neb.

The I-80 Classic, a continuation of the Hastings College Invitational, featured 59 golfers from 11 schools. Libby Lewis, junior from Syracuse, placed seventh to lead the 'Cats with a 177. Beam-Ward scored one stroke better than Lewis on the second day but finished three strokes behind with a 180.

The Wildcats placed fourth as a team.


Sep. 4 - In her first meet as a Baker Wildcat, Libby Lewis, junior from Syracuse, led the team and tied for second-place overall at the Hastings College Invitational.

The meet was held at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Neb., and was the fall season opener for the Wildcat. Lewis, a transfer student and younger sister of former Baker All-American Meghan Lewis, led the field of 57 athletes with a score of 40 on the front nine. She hit 44 on the back nine to finish with 84, one shot behind the leader.

Jordan Beam-Ward, senior from Olathe, finished 11th by hitting 44s on both ends. Beth Taylor, freshman from Shawnee Mission, also made the Top 20 by shooting 49-44 for a 93.

Baker placed fourth out of 10 teams with a score of 362, just five strokes behind runner-up Midland Luthernan College and three shots behind host Hastings College.


April 29 - Baker placed three-quarters of its players on the All-Heart of America Athletic Conference team and placed third at the conference championships April 28-29 in Quincy, Ill.

Senior Sarah Payne led the 'Cats by tying for fourth place with an 83-42 = 125 over 27 holes. The second day of golf was cut short by rain. Junior Jordan Beam-Ward (93-46 = 139) and freshman Rachel Reynoldson (90-49 = 139) tied for seventh place.
