2005 Season

Taken on a cold, cloudy January day, these pictures show Sauder Field, the new home of the Baker baseball team. The relocation of the baseball field from the southwest corner of Second and High streets to the northeast corner of Second and Grove streets was part of Baker's multi-million dollar outdoor athletic facility improvement plan. Sauder Field was formerly the home of the softball team, while the baseball team played on Cavaness Field. The switch gave the baseball team a bigger outfield and provided both teams with lighting.

From the sky above and outside the centerfield fence, a bird can take in the more spacious outfield. Dugouts and the bleachers were not yet constructed at the time of this photograph.	The orange grandstand seats of Liston Stadium attract attention in the upper-left corner, while the outfield of Cavaness Field provides a background in the upper-right corner. Cavaness was the former home of the baseball team, and now is the site of the new softball field.	The hardy infield grass maintained a shade of green despite the winter weather, which turned the infield soggy. Fans and players are awaiting spring, when the dark green grass returns and players take the field for their first home game on Feb. 26.
