April 29 | One-run victory gives Wildcats first winning season since 1999
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -
Logan Peck pitched seven strong innings, while junior Jerrod White delivered a two-out bases loaded single to end the game, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 victory in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. The victory clinched Baker's first winning season since 1999.
Peck (4-3), starting his final game for the Wildcats, allowed eight hits and struck out three. Senior Ben Mejia downed a runner at the plate to keep the game tied in the fourth inning.
Baker scored the game's only run with help from the Ravens' defense, which committed two errors in the seventh inning. Foltz's single into center was bobbled, allowing him to move to second, and an error by the Ravens first baseman allowed the Wildcats to load the bases with one out.
White looped a single into right, plating Foltz and keeping the Wildcats above .500 for the first time under head coach Phil Hannon.
In game two, Benedictine's bat came alive, scoring three runs in the fourth and fifth, and exploding for eight runs in the sixth inning. The loss kept Baker from reaching the .500 level in conference. Baker lost the first two games of this four-game series Saturday in Atchison, Kan.
