Oct. 7 | Vikings shut out Baker at home
For the second consecutive home game, Baker University was shut out, losing 28-0 to No. 10-ranked Missouri Valley College, the top defensive team in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Missouri Valley compiled 448 yards of total offense, while Baker's offense managed only 64 yards against the No. 1 HAAC scoring and rushing defense during the Wildcats' homecoming game before 2,000 fans at Liston Stadium.
Both teams traded possessions to begin the game. Missouri Valley would strike first with a 70-yard reception by Darrell Madry, setting up the Vikings first score of the game. Running back Robert Holmes scored on a one-yard run.
In the second quarter, quarterback Jason Shoulders began his throwing attack. He threw two of his three touchdowns in the quarter, having plently of time in the pocket. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 301 yards while connecting with 11 different receivers.
Eric Brown and Ryan Ross had five and seven catches respectively for a total of 178 yards.
Baker's offense struggled for the second time at home, failing to reach the end zone. The Vikings defense held quarterback Mack Brown to 11 of 26 passing for 80 yards. The Wildcats finished with -16 yards rushing, including five sacks.
Baker, winless at home, has lost three in a row. Baker is 2-4 overall and in the HAAC, while Missouri Valley improved to 6-0 and 5-0.
Next week Baker will take on MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan. Last season Baker lost in overtime to the Pioneers at home.
