Jan. 11 | Baker to open indoor season
Top returnees for the Baker men are sprinters Brent Randle, Brandon Hubbard and Trevor Gleason.
Randle, a senior from Dallas, is a two-time NAIA All-American in the triple jump, placing third at the NAIA Outdoors in 2005 and 2006. Randle holds the school’s triple-jump record in outdoors (50-6 ¾) and indoors (49-10 ½). He also set the school’s standard in the 200 (23.12) and is a member of Baker’s record setting 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.
Hubbard, a senior from Hutchinson, Kan., was a 2006 NAIA Outdoor finalist in the 100, placing eighth in 10.81. He also ran on Baker’s 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Another member of the record-setting 4x100 and 4x200 relays, Gleason, a sophomore from Centralia, Kan., holds the school record in the indoor 60-meter dash.
Top returners for the Baker women are LaTasha Roberts and Katey Wegemer.
Roberts, a senor from Louisburg, Kan, was a national qualifier in the 55-meter dash at the NAIA indoor meet. She holds school records in the 55 (7.39), 60 (8.05), the 200 (26.55) and 400 indoors (1:01.44).
Wegemer, a sophomore from Olathe and returning NAIA qualifier, is the school-record holder in the 600 indoors (1:31.91).
Top newcomers for the men are junior college transfers Donnie Gardner, a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American in the 10-kilometer race; Richie Bryant, an NJCAA national qualifier in the long jump; and Aaron Hannon, a Kansas high school state champion in the 300-meter hurdles.
Ashlee Miller, a Missouri high school state champion in the Class 1A long jump, is among the top newcomers for the Baker women.
