Baker University women's golf team took home the victory at the Evangel University Triangular last weekend. Sophomore Melissa Brown shot 98-94 over the two-day event, leading the team, which shot 780 as a team.
Head coach Karen Exon said high scores were a result of poor course conditions, left over from the an ice storm that left course in less than adaquete playing conditions. Heavy rains also affected the course before the tournament. Despite the high scores, Exon said she was pleased with victory because of the conditions and that it was the first time spring competition.
The Wildcats narrowly beat Avila University, who shot 781 to take second, while host team Evangel shot 806.
The women compete next at the Baker University spring invitational at Alvamar GC Monday-Tuesday, April 9-10.
