April 28 | Sophomores lead Wildcats at conference meet
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -
Two first-place finishes and three second-place finishes, all by sophomores, highlighted the women's track and field team at the 2007 Heart of America of Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, held in Baldwin City, over the weekend.
Sophomore Chelsey Ornburn defended her conference indoor pole vault championship from early this year, clearing 3.35 meters to take first place.
The Wildcats finished one-two in the 3,000-meter racewalk. Sophomores Ariel Penner and Amber Keith were separated by two-tenths of a second, giving Baker 18 points.
Two other sophomores helping Baker finish fourth overall were Katey Wegemer and Regan Boyer, who placed second and third in the heptathlon. Wegemer finished with 3,065 points, while Boyer scored 2,939 points. For full heptathlon scoring click here.
April Kruse had the Wildcats other second-place finish, throwing 31.72 meters in the javelin.
Other top finishers were senior Lori Siedl, who placed third in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. Freshman Ashlee Miller had two fourth-places finishes in the high jump and long jump.
