DAN HARRIS NAMED UNDER ARMOUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR
BALDWIN CITY, Ks. – In his final week at Baker University, Athletic Director Dan Harris will be going out with a bang. Harris was officially named Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year for the central division. The Under Armour AD of the Year Award program was created to honor intercollegiate directors of athletics for their commitment and administrative excellence within a campus and/or college community environment. The award spans seven divisions (NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I, II, III, NAIA/Other Four-Year Institutions and Junior/Community Colleges) and annually honors 29 athletics directors (four from each division) as regional winners, and one international recipient. Harris will receive his award this upcoming weekend in Orlando, Florida. Harris will officially begin his retirement on July 1st, 2009. View full information on the NACDA Awards and Convention here.

NUNO DRAFTED BY THE CLEVELAND INDIANS IN ROUND 48
Baldwin City, Ks. - In the third and final day of the Major League amateur draft LHP Vidal Nuno was drafted into the Cleveland Indians minor league system. Over the past two seasons at Baker University Nuno compiled 15 wins with an ERA of 1.98. In 2008 Nuno was named HAAC Pitcher of the Year. FORMER PLAYER/COACH TANNER PURDUM SIGNS WITH CHIEFS
April 7th 2009 Purdum Inks Free Agent Contract With Chiefs
BALDWIN CITY, Ks. - Former Baker University football player Tanner Purdum has officially signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season Purdum continued his individual workouts while assisting the Baker University Coaching Staff in 2008, “Tanner has stayed very focused on his family, education, and football. He is well prepared for this opportunity, and we wish him the best,” stated Head Baker Football Coach Mike Grossner. Purdum a four-year varsity letterman at Baker University was a back-up quarterback and special teams long snapper for 4 years from 2003-2006. In 2007 Purdum was a Graduate Assistant with the Avila Eagles an NAIA Division 1 and Heart of America Athletic Conference team. The Kansas City Chiefs recently released their former veteran long snapper J.P. Darche, thus giving Purdum the opportunity he had always dreamed of. Purdum had this to say, “Hard work pays off, don’t give up on your dreams.” Purdum will continue to report to the team for optional individual workouts as he and chiefs begin their 2009 campaign.
