The Wildcats will take the field again at 6 p.m. Saturday at Liston Stadium facing Central Methodist. At halftime of the game Mike McCarthy (Head Coach, Green Bay Packers) will be inducted into the Baker Athletics Hall of Fame. |

Cats Stumble vs. Lions The WildcatsThe Wildcats went on the road last weekend to face Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions jumped on top early, going into halftime with a 37-8 lead. The Wildcats would battle the Lions in the second half, but early turnovers and poor tackling would prove too much for the ’Cats to overcome in a 50-19 loss. Baker will return home this weekend to the friendly confines of Liston Stadium to face the Ravens from Benedictine College. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Baldwin City. |
Doerfler Sets School Record In Home Opener The Wildcats did not disappoint in their home opener Saturday at Liston Stadium, with a decisive 40-14 win over Culver-Stockton. Junior kicker Derek Doerfler would come up big on the day with a school record setting 57 yd field goal to begin the second quarter. Doerfler would later add one from 36 yards in the fourth quarter. The Cats' offense showcased it weapons with a balanced attack that put up over 450 yard of total offense. Blaine Crow and Frank Owens would lead the way on the ground with 175 combined rushing yards, while sophomore QB Mack Brown piloted the air attack completing 22 of 33 passes for 266 yards. The Baker Defense made its mark with interception returns by corner Eric Allen and linebacker Brad Page. Page would take his 14 yards for a Wildcat defensive touchdown midway through the second quarter. The Cats' defensive front would also come up big, holding Culver-Stockton to just 67 total rushing yards. The Cat’s will take their 1-0 conference record to St. Charles, MO next Saturday Sept. 15 to take on Lindenwood at 6 p.m. |
Cats Fall to Division II Opponent The Wildcats drop a tough loss to NCAA Division II Missouri Western 42-24 Saturday in St. Joseph Mo. The Cats out performed the Griffon's in almost every statistical category, but in the end, two Baker miscues that resulted in Griffon defensive touchdowns proved to be the difference in the contest. The Wildcats were led offensively by their three tailbacks Frank Owens, Richie Bryant, and Blaine Crow who combined for over 160 yards on the ground. Defensively the Cat linebackers showed up big, with Spencer Curran leading the way with 10 tackles and Brad Page added 7 tackles combined with a key interception. Minus the costly mistakes Head Coach Mike Grossner believes his team played well. "Disappointed. We don't like moral victories. We're into winning," Grossner said. "It gives us a good idea of where we're at. We'll be all right. We played well enough to win without mistakes." The Cats will look to rebound at home vs. Culver-Stockton at 1 p.m. Saturday Sept. 8 at Liston Stadium. |
