BAKER TRACK AND FIELD CONTINUES TO DOMINATE
Ottawa, KS. - The Baker Women’s Track and Field Squad claimed a dominant victory on Saturday at the Bo Boucek Classic in at Ottawa University. The squad tallied an impressive 142 total points in 21 events, nearly 50 more than second-place Neosho Community College. The Wildcat Women were led by their dominant relay teams, taking 1st place in all three races (4x100, 4x400, and 4x800). Individually, Baker was led by junior Jackie Koch who took home gold medals in both the Discus and the Hammer Throw. Mary Loveland also claimed victory in the 1500 Meter Run, posting a time of 5:35.66.
The Men’s squad also put together a solid performance, finishing in 2nd place with a total of 105 points, 25 behind 1st place host school Ottawa University. The Men were paced by freshman Kolter Smith and Junior Brian Korn with each taking home two individual golds. Smith won both the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdle races, while Korn won both the shot put and the hammer throw. Senior Trevor Gleason also claimed a gold for Baker, winning the Long Jump competition with a jump of 19ft. 10.5in. . The 4x800 meter relay team took the Men’s teams final gold on the day.
BAKER WOMEN PLACE 1st AT CENTRAL METHODIST, MEN COME IN 3rd
Fayette, MO- The past few weeks for Baker Track and Field has been quite promising. Things came to a head this past weekend when the women’s team finished in 1st place yet again scoring 132 points in the 21 events scored. The next closest team was William Jewell College scoring 101.5 points. Leading the way for the women was Junior Kelsey Heckathorne who won the 200 Meter Dash. The Baker women also racked up points in the 4x100 Meter Relay and the 4x400 Meter Relay taking 1st place in both. Senior Chelsey Ornburn took 1st place in the Women’s Pole Vault at 3.33 meters earning the Wildcats another 10 points in competition and another season victory. As for the men J.L. Anderson got the Wildcats off to a great start taking 1st place in the 400 Meter Hurdles at 54.76 seconds. Brian Korn continues to dazzle in the Shot Put, Korn won the event with ease scoring 15.31 meters. The next closest to Korn was William Coleman from Missouri Valley at 13.95 meters. Baker will participate in the Tabor College Invite this week, before heading to the Kansas Relays the 16th-18th. View Full Results Here
