Softball Season Outlook
The 2008 season will prove a continuation of rebuilding for the Wildcats with eight Freshmen, three Sophomores and four Juniors. Without any seniors leading the team, Coach Rigdon is looking to returning All-Conference catcher, Alexis Pryor (JR) and outfielder Jayde Allen (JR) to standout this season and take on the leadership roles for the Lady Cats. Unlike last season, the Cats plan to dominate defensively with four pitchers who balance one another with mixtures of speed, movement and style. Junior transfer, Lisa Pearse and sophomore, Stephanie Nelson will guide the team this season from the mound with freshmen, Amanda Phelps and Erin Ford ready to display their talents. Marriann Dugan (JR) second basemen, and Kelsey Epperson, (JR) 3B will prove to be two of the top defenders in the conference. The team will look to several young players to fill roles and holes defensively this season.
The Cats will possess the power, speed and ability to execute runs from the plate. With a focus on hitting this Fall the team should be prepared to challenge anything thrown at them this Spring.
The talent and attitude of the team will be the red carpet for the solid defense across the field. The many new faces and new focus will welcome the challenge in 2008!
