Jan.11 | Shufelberger injures knee in loss to Vikings
Baker University's struggles in the conference continued on Thursday in a 62-57 loss to Missouri Valley College in a game in which guard Lauren Shufelberger had to be carried off the court.
After missing a shot with five minutes left in the first half, Shufelberger came down awkwardly on her right leg after stepping on an opponent's foot.
Immediately after coming down, Shufelberger grabbed her right knee and had to be carried off the court by her teammates.
The full extent of the injury will not be determined for a few days, however trainers said a dislocated kneecap was relocated.
This season, Shufelberger has averaged 8.1 points for the Wildcats this season.
The Wildcats hit 26 percent of their shots. Senior guard Molly Ediger made two of 19 shots, and the interior struggled against two 6-3 post players.
Junior forward Allie Heinen recorded a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. She also logged 38 minutes. Senior Amanda Yates led the Wildcats with 18 points.
Baker will look for their second conference win Saturday against Evangel. The Wildcats defeated the Crusaders 84-77 in triple-overtime in last year's conference playoffs.
