OLATHE - Baker University (7-14, 1-10 HAAC) senior Amanda Yates recorded her eighth 20-point game, while junior Allie Heinen tied a season-high 17 points. However, their combined effort was not enough, as No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene University defeated Baker, 80-62.
Yates scored 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting, while Heinen tied a season-high of 17 points. Heinen was also one rebound shy of her fifth double-double.
Heinen logged 38 minutes, the longest for any Wildcats this season. Yates spent 34 minutes on the court.
Baker's strategy keyed on Yates and Heinen, who have been scoring a majority of the Wildcats' points over the past few games.
National player of the year candidate Jenna Matson scored 14 points for the Pioneers.
The Wildcats, who are in the middle of a losing streak, played tough and continued to push when trailing in the second half.
The Wildcats, outscored in the first half, matched the Pioneers' 32 second-half points.
Baker's conference losing streak increased to eight with the loss.
Since their only conference victory, the Wildcats have dropped three games by less than five points. They have also faced three ranked teams.
The Wildcats face Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., Saturday at 2 p.m. Baker's only conference win, was a 78-49 win over the Eagles.
