Feb. 5 | Heinen records double-double, but Wildcats lose 81-69 to MANU
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Allie Heinen (DeSoto, Kan.) continued to play the best basketball of her career, but the Baker Wildcats (9-17, 3-13 Heart of America Athletic) lost to the No. 9 MidAmerica Nazarene Lady Pioneers 81-69.
Though, the Wildcats have struggled in conference play late, Heinen's play has considerably risen over the past month. In those past nine games, Heinen is averaging 13 points and 11.9 rebounds, including a career-highs in points and rebounds.
Baker fell behind by 17 ten minutes through the first-half but battled back to close within eight. MANU closed the half with six free-throws to led 44-31.
After the break, Baker paced MANU, and closed a 21-point gap to 11 with four minutes left to play. At that point, the momentum had swung in favor of the Wildcats, but time became a factor and the Pioneers defeated Baker for the second time this season.
Heinen's double-double is her third-straight and eighth this season.
The Wildcats have four games remaining. The Wildcats will have to win every game, to even have a chance.
