Nov. 11 | Trio leads Baker to five point win
Playing night after night is sometimes tough for a tough, but it seems to be the key for the Wildcats who beat Ottawa 53-48 at the Park Classic.
The Wildcats (4-1 overall) had double digit nights from junior Allie Heinen and seniors Amanda Yates and Molly Ediger. In all, the trio combined for 36 of Baker's points.
The win, makes Baker undefeated in classic play this year with a 4-0 record with home wins against Kansas Wesleyan University and Missouri Baptist University last weekend, and victories this weekend over Park University and Ottawa.
Baker out rebounded Ottawa 33 to 26, and also hit six of 14 three-pointers, while Ottawa converted one of 11.
Both teams struggled in the second half, but the Wildcats were able to manage the victory despite shooting 37 percent from the floor compared to Ottawa's 44. Baker was outscored by five in the second half.
Heinen recorded her second double-double of the weekend with 13 points and 12 rebounds, including five offensive. Ediger led the Wildcats from the perimeter with 13 points, including two splash downs from outside. Yates continued her streak of games in the double figures to five.
The Wildcats until Thursday night off when they begin conference play against William Jewell College. Last season the Wildcats were 0-2 against the Cardinals last year, and 12-8 overall against the HAAC.
